[Journal Entry]: Battling fear was a constant in my life. Fear from what exactly?..Everything, but mainly failure. Fear can be crippling. If allowed, it can stunt growth but also can be used to take jumps. When control is released and the universe has space to work, fear can be non-existent.
Lately in my work, I have been doing my best to quiet my mind, listen to my body and to the materials that are present. Each material has its own purpose, although sometimes they dont always follow that purpose. Sometimes this can be a good thing if you allow it to. This has given me a space to experiment and try new avenues of the material, learning that they can be used for different things. Things like color theory, or the wild chemical reactions in resin started to feel more like lessons than failures.
During this time, I’ve learned that this idea of letting go of fear was the thing that let my mind roam free, and come up with endless ideas. I moved from wanting pieces to be an exact outcome to being into the experimental phase of my artistry.
With these works and self reflection, I have allowed myself to absorb what's around me without control or fear.
